Time tracking your employees actually use

Each employee gets their own page — hours, holiday and absence, nothing else. You approve weeks, and approved hours flow straight into payroll and invoicing. In the same system as the rest of your accounts, at no extra cost.

How it works for the employee

  1. You invite the employee from the payroll register — they get an email, choose a password, and land on their own page. They never see the accounts, invoices or payroll of others.
  2. «My day» shows expected hours (with Norwegian public holidays and their work schedule), what is logged, and what is missing. Logging today's hours on the same activity as yesterday is two taps.
  3. Prefer clocking in? Turn on the optional punch clock: one tap to start, one to stop — the clock times are stored on the entry and the hours are calculated (with the statutory lunch deduction on long days). A forgotten stop never blocks anything; it just becomes a draft the employee corrects.
  4. The week view has a cell per day, autosave, and «copy last week» — which skips public holidays in the target week. Each entry also has «copy to next working day» and «copy to the rest of the week» (long-press on mobile). Hours can be typed as 7.5, 7:30 or 0800-1530 — all are understood.
  5. When the week is complete, the employee submits it. Submitted weeks can still be corrected until you approve them — with every change logged.

Holiday and absence — self-service

Employees register self-certified sick leave and sick-child days themselves (you are notified — the law does not require approval), and apply for holiday (which you approve). Balances for holiday days, self-certifications and care days are always visible. Absence automatically reduces expected hours — including graded sick leave.

No diagnosis fields anywhere — the comment field explicitly warns against health details. That is how the privacy rules want it.

Absence self-service with balances

Holiday and absence: balances, self-certification and holiday requests on one page.

For you as the manager

The manager approval page

The approval page: weeks awaiting review, holiday requests, activity catalogue and work schedules.

Approved hours become payroll and invoices

This is the point of having time tracking inside the accounting system: approved hours are transferred to the payroll draft as an hourly-wage line (hours × hourly wage — tax, employer contributions and holiday pay are calculated by the payroll engine as always), and billable hours per customer become an invoice draft you review before posting. Transferred hours are locked — double payment or double invoicing is impossible.

Honest limitations

Things Macct time tracking does not have (yet):

  • No native mobile app — the pages are mobile-friendly in the browser.
  • No calendar integration or GPS/location tracking — and the latter is deliberate: no surveillance, only self-reporting.

Everything on this page is live functionality — nothing here is a mock-up or roadmap promise.

Included in the price

Time tracking is included in Macct's flat price of 250 kr/month ex. VAT — together with bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll, VAT, tax return, annual accounts, shareholder register and travel expenses. No per-employee fee, no add-on modules.
