Macct as an app on your phone

Macct needs no App Store and no download: the website is the app. Add it to your home screen and Macct opens straight on Scan — photograph the receipt while you are still in the shop, and it is waiting in your inbox when you are back at your desk.

Macct is installed. You are using the app now. Log in first You cancelled — press again whenever you like, or follow the steps below.
You are on an iPhone or iPad. There you install from the Share menu in Safari — the steps are right below, and the box with the green border is yours.
You are on Android. The browser has not offered installation on this page yet — follow the steps in the green box below, or reload the page after logging in.
This browser cannot install websites as apps. Use Chrome or Edge on PC/Mac, or open macct.no on your phone — that is where the camera is anyway.

What you get

  • Camera straight onto the receipt Opens on Scan. Take a photo, done — Macct reads amount, date and VAT and suggests the posting.
  • Own icon, own screen No address bar or tabs: Macct fills the screen like a regular app.
  • Shortcuts Long-press the icon for Scan, New voucher and Inbox directly.
  • Nothing stored on the phone Your accounting figures stay with Macct as before. Lose coverage and you are told so — you never see stale numbers.

How to install

🍎 iPhone and iPad yours

  1. Open macct.no in Safari and log in.
  2. Tap the Share button ⬆︎ at the bottom of the screen (the square with an arrow up; on iPad it sits at the top).
  3. Scroll down the menu and choose Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add in the top right. The Macct icon is now on your home screen.

Cannot see "Add to Home Screen"? You are probably in a browser other than Safari, or in a link opened from e-mail/Messenger. Open macct.no in the Safari app itself.

🤖 Android yours

  1. Open macct.no in Chrome (or Samsung Internet / Edge) and log in.
  2. Tap the menu ⋮ in the top right.
  3. Choose Install app (or "Add to Home screen").
  4. Confirm with Install. Macct appears among your apps and on the home screen.

Chrome often also shows its own "Install" offer at the bottom of the screen once you are logged in — it does the same thing.

💻 PC and Mac yours

  1. Open macct.no in Chrome or Edge and log in.
  2. Click the install icon at the far right of the address bar (a screen with an arrow down), or the menu ⋮ → Install Macct (Chrome: "Cast, save and share" → "Install page as app").
  3. Confirm. Macct opens in its own window and sits in the Start menu / Applications.

Firefox and Safari on Mac cannot install websites as apps.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Macct not in the App Store or Google Play?

Because Macct is not a store app. It is the website you already use, installed on your home screen. No updates to run — you always have the latest version — and no app asking for access to your phone. The camera asks permission the first time, as a website does.

Is it the same login?

Yes. The app uses the same user and password as macct.no. Tick "Remember me" when you log in and you will not have to log in every time you open the app.

Does it work offline?

No — on purpose. Accounting figures should never be left on a phone that can be lost. Without coverage you get a simple "you are offline" page, and everything is back once you are online.

Can employees use it?

Yes. Employees invited to time tracking and expenses install it the same way and see only what they have access to, exactly as in the browser.

How do I remove it?

Like any other app: long-press the icon and choose "Remove app" (iPhone) or "Uninstall" (Android). Nothing in your accounts is affected.
